Unisa Courses - Finance and Risk Management and Banking

The department offers world class tuition with career-oriented programmes. Various in-depth courses of the department enable students to tailor-make their programmes to suit their specific goals while learning at their own time. As a big department in the finance, risk management and banking fields in the country, the department has the ambition to be a world leading research and training center in banking and finance. In pursuit of this ambition, the department aims to advance research activity in finance and to support doctoral research and executive education in the banking and finance industry as well as organising interfacing activities between research and the industry.


Undergraduate

The following programmes can be considered:
The Department is in the process of obtaining approval from the Council for Higher Education (CHE) in order to offer the following qualifications:
  • Higher Certificate in Banking
  • Diploma in Banking
  • BCom Banking

Postgraduate

The following postgraduate programmes can be considered:
The MCom and DCom studies involve research only. The department does not offer a tutored masters degree. Students who wish to enrol for the MCom or DCom have to submit a research proposal. Research proposals are assessed based on the criteria contained in the following document:
DoHET and CHE have approved the following qualification, and preparations are underway to offer the qualification from 2012:
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Risk Management
